Online share of retail sales soared to record 30.7% in first full month of coronavirus lockdown

Switch to online came as total retail sales crashed 18.1%, the worst monthly performance on record

Internet sales as a percentage of total retail sales leapt to 30.7% in April 2020, up from the previous record set in March (22.4%) and with all but one sector (non-store retailing) reaching its highest-recorded online share, according to ONS retail industry data released today.
